Ladies: 2013 - 2014

September

15th v Oughtibridge (H) - The away side are generally regarded as the best Ladies team in the league so it was perhaps unsurprising that this first game of the new season ended in a 0-6 defeat for Staveley.

22nd v Socrates (H) - Better things were to come however and a Carly Rowlands hattrick ensured a 4-1 victory...unfortunately the scorer of the other goal isn't technically known but also making an appearance that day was Sasha Lowe, Megan Macefield, Teresa Oliver, Anya Taylor, Jade Tollerfield, Lindsay Vaughan, Lorna Wakem, Lauren Walton, Kirsty Wooley, Davina Arnold,   Jess Brailsford,  Lauren Hardy Cheryl Smith and Lauren Thomas. So the goal scorer was one of those unless it was an own goal.

October

6th v Oughtibridge (A) - Another game against the leagues best team by a mile ended in another defeat 4-0 this time.

13th v Mexborough Athletic (H) - With Oughtibridge out of the way Staveleys Ladies team could now concentrate on the rest of the season, and got off to a flier in the race for "best of the rest" beating the home side 0-9 -  Sasha Lowe, Hollie Wall and Karla Burton scored one each whilst Cary Rowlands and Billie Gordon weighed in with two.  Once again the scorers of the other two goals are unavailable so take your pick from -  Lauren Hardy, Georgia Lowe, Megan Macefield,Teresa Oliver, Anya Taylor, Jade Tollerfield, Lorna Wakem, Kirsty Woolley or Jess Brailsford who all played a part in the victory.

20th v Sheffield Rangers (A) - Next up was a double header against Sheffield Rangers. The first game was won 0-4 thanks to goals from Sasha Lowe, Hollie Wall and a double from Carly Rowlands.

27th v Sheffield Rangers (H) - This time Staveley won 6-0 Karla Burton, Carly Rowlands and Lauren Hardy scored one goal each and Billie Gordon got two, but again there is no clue as to who scored the sixth. Anya Taylor,Jade Tollerfield,Lindsay Vaughan, Lorna Wakem, Lauren Walton, Kirsty Woolley, Davina Arnold, Georgia Lowe,Megan Macefield, Cheryl Smith,Hollie Wall and of course an own goal are all possible scorers of that goal.

November

24th v Sheffield Wednesday Development (H) - Just the one game in November but what a cracker it was with Carly Rowlands scoring a hattrick in a 3-3 draw.

December

1st v Thorne United (A) - Another hattrick from Carly Rowlands added to a Sasha Lowe strike ensured a 2-4 win.

8th v Swinton Athletic (H) - Athletic so far had lost all of their games and this one was no different as they were sent away from Inkersall Road on the end of a (Twelve) 12-1 hammering. Lauren Hardy bagged two of the goals, Jade Tollerfield, Carly Rowlands Lauren Walton and Kirsty Wooley got one each which left Billie Gordon and Sasha Lowe to discuss who got to keep the match ball, as they both got a hattrick....The ball was left at the club to be used for the next game apparently.

February

23rd v Sheffield Wednesday Development (A) - There were no signs of rustiness despite the length of time since the last game. Carly Rowlands made it five goals against the Owls this season with the two goals that sealed a 2-1 victory for Staveley.

March

2nd v Socrates (A) - In another quirk of the source material for this little review of the season thirteen goals were scored but Staveley only won 1-6. Check out the picture below

16th v Mexborough Athletic (A) -  Only having the bare eleven for this trip to Rotherham resulted in a surprise 2-0 defeat.

April

13th v Thorne United (H) - Staveley wrapped up the home season with an emphatic (Thirteen) 13-3 victory, Anya Taylor and Billie Gordon scored hat-tricks Karla Burton scored twice Lauren Hardy got one and Carly Rowlands cemented her place at the top of Staveleys goals scoring charts with four.

30th v Swinton Athletic (A) - The preseason aim of being "best of the rest" had been secured a few games ago and Staveley signed off this successful second season by beating the bottom club by exactly the same score as they had done in the previous encounter...

Karla Burton, Billie Gordon and Carly Rowlands bagged two each, Anya Taylor and Lauren Hardy scored one, Sahsa Lowe got a hattrick and A.N Other contributed to a 1-12 (Twelve) victory..... a great way to celebrate promotion to Division One.
